Cookie Policy
This policy explains what cookies are, which ones marcosjacob.com uses and why, how long they last, and how you can control them.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a site stores on your device. They let the site remember things — like what’s in your cart or that you’re signed in — between pages and visits. Similar technologies (pixels, local storage) work in comparable ways; we refer to all of them as “cookies” here.
2. Why we use cookies
To keep the store working (cart and secure checkout), to keep it safe (fraud prevention), to understand how it’s used so we can improve it, and — only with the relevant cookies enabled — to measure and improve our advertising.
3. The categories we use
| Category | Purpose | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary (always on) | Cart, checkout, security, fraud prevention, load balancing. The store can’t function without these. | Shopify session & cart cookies, security tokens |
| Analytics | Understanding which pages are visited and how the site performs, so we can improve it. | Shopify analytics, Google Analytics |
| Marketing | Measuring whether our ads work and showing more relevant ones. | Advertising platform pixels |
4. First- and third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by us (first-party); others are set by the providers we use, such as Shopify, Google, and advertising platforms (third-party). Those providers process data under their own privacy terms; see our Privacy Policy for who we work with.
5. How long cookies last
Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay for a set period (from a few days up to about two years) so the site can remember you on your next visit. You can clear them at any time in your browser.
6. Managing cookies
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time — note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop the cart and checkout from working. Most browsers also let you block third-party cookies specifically.
If you’re in a US state with an opt-out right (such as California), you can opt out of any “sharing” of data for advertising by emailing support@marcosjacob.com with the subject “Privacy request”. We also honour recognised opt-out preference signals where required.
7. Do Not Track
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. There’s no common industry standard for responding to it yet, so we don’t change our behaviour based on that signal alone, but we do honour the opt-out methods described above.
8. Changes
We may update this policy as our tools change. We’ll post the new version here with a revised date.
